Late Summer/Early Fall is the Best Time to Seed

Summer weather conditions have taken their toll on lawns this season. Turf grass has been bombarded with high temperatures, heavy stress with diseases, weed competition, high humidity, crabgrass outbreaks, lack of routine watering, etc this Summer! Most lawns are showing signs of stress and have developed bare, patchy, or thin areas!

Revive & Thicken your Lawn with Aeration & Broadcast Seeding this Fall

Heavy Aeration, along with Broadcast Over Seeding, is a cost effective solution to help restore tired turf. After heavy Aeration is completed, our Technicians will spread a custom blended premium grass seed mix throughout the area. Once the grass seed has been installed, we drag the area with a heavy screen to break up some of the Aeration plugs and incorporate the seed into the openings. This final step helps to maximize the amount of seed to  soil contact, creating ideal conditions for the new seed to revive and thicken your  existing lawn!

Broadcast seeding is a cost effective method to help your lawn recover from thinning and Summer stress, or add new and better seed blends to an old and tired lawn. Broadcast Over Seeding will not provide the same predictable results as a full lawn renovation or power slice seeding, but can certainly provide an  improvement to your lawn at a fraction of the cost!

Optional Seeding/Lawn Restoration Method: Total Lawn Restorationn

A more costly restoration process, but with optimal results, would be a heavy core aeration, combined with a “power slice seeding”.  Slice seeding is accomplished by using a specialized machine which slices through the existing turf, drops the seed within the sliced areas, then incorporates the seed directly into the soil. This process can only be accomplished when thatch layers are minimal. In some cases, eradication of your existing lawn may be recommended first by treating with a “non-selective” vegetation control” first, especially if there are poor or undesirable grasses within your current lawn (such as tall fescue, bent grass, annual blue grass and alike).

If broadcast seeding, or slice seeding are not possible due to heavy thatch layers, or if topsoil is required, a full renovation may be needed. Our lawn specialist can review all of this with you.

Our “Platinum 7” Lawn Fertilizer Program is recommended with all of our seeding options as well as routine maintenance for your lawn.  Combined with routine Lime & Aeration, your lawn will continue to grow stronger and healthier!
